IMMEDIATILE: the self-adhesive tile

ImmediaTile is a system that allows you to quickly install wall tiles (soon also floor tiles), in an easy and permanent way. It is a patented technology, in which the tile is equipped with a pressure-sensitive glue on its back, which is protected by a non-stick paper, just like our children's stickers.

In this way it is possible to avoid the untidiness and waste caused by dust, water or adhesive substances, which often happen while preparing the glue for the installation of the tiles. The system works regardless of the product, so whether we are talking about porcelain stoneware, glazed ceramic or white-body wall tiles, the procedure will be exactly the same. ImmediaTile is an excellent solution for DIYs and small or large renovations, allowing you to significantly save on labour costs. The first ImmediaTile collection is Brick, a brick tile which is available in 8 trendy colours and two different finishes.

Control of the product

As with any installation of floor or wall tiles, it is always necessary to check the tone and quality of the product before installation, in order to avoid unpleasant surprises once the material has already been installed. In fact, the law protects producers and retailers from any disputes after installation. Our advice is to take some tiles from different boxes and check their flatness as well as any possible surface defects. We do not recommend laying ImmediaTile on uneven surfaces.

Preparation and Primer application
ImmediaTile Primer

First of all, it is necessary to check that the surface on which we are going to install the tiles is clean, dry and free of dust or signs of flaking. This is because the glue will adhere perfectly only if there are no contaminants between the adhesive and the substrate. Once this has been checked, a thin layer of ImmediaTile Primer (or ImmediaTile waterproofing membrane in case of application in humid areas such as shower walls) must be applied using a sponge roller. At the end of the operation, the wall must be quite wet, and it is necessary to wait for it to be completely dry before laying the tiles.

For the installation you can help yourself by drawing the tile’s profile on the surface with a pencil, in order to define a base line to follow. ImmediaTile can be installed directly on existing coverings, as well as on plasterboards, wallpaper, plywood panels, concrete. It cannot, however, be installed on oily surfaces and on materials with plastic laminate. High gloss, oil-based or flaking painted surfaces may need light sandblasting.

Installation of ImmediaTile

Remove and discard the anti-stick paper from one tile at a time. As previously mentioned, you have to position the pressure-sensitive glue against the wall and press gently against the installation surface. By doing so, the tile is in place but can still be removed and repositioned in case of misalignment, using a lever or a screwdriver to remove it.

Once you are satisfied with the position of the tile, you only have to press it firmly against the installation surface. Using normal spacers for tiles, finish the installation, obtaining regular joints.

Grout and Clean

For an optimal result, it is recommended to grout small portions at a time using only ImmediaTile Grouts. Using a rubber plastering trowel, grout all the joints by pressing the grout firmly between them. Any possible stains on the tile must be removed as soon as possible with a soft and clean cloth.
